Felting/ hooking workshop with Jennifer Davey

This will be a 3-hour workshop to learn how to use felting in your hooked projects. You will learn how to do basic needle/wet felting incorporating your backing into the process. Most felting materials will be provided but you will need to bring a piece of backing made out of natural fiber like linen or cotton (not synthetic) that is about 4 inches square and partially hooked. We will felt the edge and whatever else is left unhooked so leave at least a half-inch around the edge unhooked. Participants will go home with a finished piece and directions to repeat the process at home. Workshop fee includes felting materials.  $40 Members; $70 non-members

Jennifer Davey has been hooking for 24 years and about 10 years ago started exploring felting and how to mix the two techniques. She prefers to hook with narrow strips of wool to get more detail into her work. She also enjoys dyeing her own fabric as well as using thrift store finds. Her real love is creating fiber art and being involved with hanging and showing fiber art.

Jennifer has explored felting in her hooked work and experimented with various techniques. She is happy to help others learn enough to set them on their own path of discovery using mixed media.

Jennifer lives in Post Mills Vermont and hooks with a small group of friends weekly and attends other groups when time allows.

Jennifer has been secretary, president, vice-president and a member-at-large on the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild Board since 2014. She has also taken charge of the hang at the Hooked in the Mountains Shows since 2016. Recently she has joined the Surface Design Association which encourages all kinds of fiber artists and is helping them find exhibition opportunities.
