Spring Membership Meeting and Hook-in

Saturday April 22, 9AM-3PM

Capital City Grange, Berlin, Vermont (6612 VT Route 12)

Directions: Take the Montpelier exit off I-89. Go through several lights to the intersection with route 12 / Northfield rd and take this right. Follow route 12 for several miles until you go under the interstate and start to descend. The grange will be on your left and has a good large sign.

Our Spring Meeting will be in this charming Grange Hall. It has many big windows so we will have great natural light. We will have our meeting from 10:30 to 11:30. The event is free to guild members ($20 for nonmembers). Please register for the meeting on our website so we can set things up well for you. Bring your own lunch. We will provide hot water, tea and coffee and any goodies you contribute. There will be a table for members to sell or donate items they have to bring. We will also have 2 vendors (Mary Lee O’Connor and Green Mountain Hooked Rugs)  and a tea cup auction (donations welcome).

Our exciting speaker is Vera Longtoe Sheehan :

Wabanaki Textiles and Fibre Art

Vera Longtoe Sheehan will discuss her family background making Abenaki twined bags,  the process of making them as well as her research into Wabanaki archeology and first hand studies of surviving historic twined pieces. The audience will have the opportunity to examine plant fibers, samples of twined weaving and learn how it connects to the land and Abenaki history in Vermont.
