Sandra Grant – Artist Exhibition at VINS

About Sandra Grant:

A lifelong fiber artist with a BFA and MFA in fine arts and teaching, Sandra has explored various mediums, beginning with drawing and painting before transitioning to weaving, where she successfully ran a business for many years. Her passion for color, texture, and fabric eventually led her to rug hooking, a versatile medium that allows her to dye her own wool and yarns, incorporate materials like velvets, metallics, and beads, and create both two- and three-dimensional works. Inspired by birds, particularly raptors and waterfowl, she draws on her experiences living near the water and observing birds at locations like VINS to inform her work, which often highlights intricate details and vibrant designs.

Sandra’s artistry has garnered significant recognition, including being featured in Celebrations magazine, a 2020 Rug Hooking Magazine cover story, and as the featured artist for the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild (GMRHG) exhibit in 2022. She is a juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, with her piece “Bucky the Blue Heron” selected as the featured artwork for their 2019 annual show. Sandra actively shares her expertise as the GMRHG Education Chair, teaching beginner rug hooking at libraries and craft centers in Vermont. Her work is showcased in League of New Hampshire Craftsmen galleries, Village Art Gallery in Warren, Vermont, and through custom commissions for clients seeking one-of-a-kind creations.

Proceeds from the purchase of artwork from Sandra Grant will benefit VINS.
