In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, April and May 2021 events have been edited to include only virtual gatherings. You should probably assume that in-person gatherings listed for after June 2021 may NOT be happening, but it may be worth a call or email, as weather may permit outdoor gatherings.
We hope to be able to display more VIRTUAL events and hook-ins for these COVID times. If you have a group with at least one GMRHG member, that would welcome other guild members as visitors to your local ZOOM gatherings, please let us know! email@example.com
The Guild Board has scheduled an April 2021 Hook-in as an ONLINE event and a May 8 ONLINE workshop. Scroll down in listing to see the details, or go to Guild Events page.
GMRHG online workshop: Anne-Marie Littenberg
May 8 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Saturday, May 8th from 10:30 am until noon via zoom
Free for members/$5.00 for non-members
Anne-Marie Littenberg will talk about how to incorporate taking photographs into your rug hooking practice. Your pictures can be taken with whatever device you have at hand such as a telephone, tablet, point and shoot, or fancy rig. Anne-Marie will talk about three different aspects of using a camera: 1) inspiration. 2) to help in the design and evaluation of a new rug. 3) to document your work.
How can the camera help evaluate my rug hooking? How do I translate a photograph into a rug pattern? Why do my photographs look so different from someone else’s? How do I snap a picture of my rug to make it look its best? These are some of the topics we will cover. And bring your questions!
Anne-Marie is a regular contributor to Rug Hooking Magazine, and has photographed many of the “Celebration” winners over the years. She was also the primary photographer for the GMRHG Hooked in the Mountains Virtual Rug Hooking Show. The author and photographer of “Hooked Rug Portraits” and “Hooked Rug Landscapes,” she believes it is important to have high quality images of your hooked rug art as documentation to pass on for future generations. She also believes the camera is a powerful tool that can help with one’s creative pursuits.
